Solid wood flooring with its unrivaled natural beauty gives any interior space a special atmosphere. And what could be more special than a wooden floor made from trees that have been growing right at your doorstep? We manufacture a range of solid hardwood and softwood flooring from carefully selected, locally sourced timber. Our flooring is made to order in small batches, which means you might even get your boards from a single tree!

The wood is first air dried for several weeks then kiln dried until the moisture content is equivalent to a centrally heated house (10-12%). Because of all the processes involved – selecting the wood, sawing and kiln drying it, machining the boards – we advise that you order flooring as much in advance as possible.

All of our floorboards are easy to fit. They have a tongue and groove finish with micro bevel. This is a very shallow v groove that is hardly noticeable but helps to create a smooth transition between floorboards.
We automatically supply shorter floorboards end matched which means all four sides are machined with tongue and groove. End matching allows floorboards to be joined between joists therefore reducing the amount of waste. Boards of 2.4m and longer are supplied with square ends. This means they will have to be cut back to join over a joist, so a little more wastage can be expected.

The standard thickness of our hardwood flooring is 21mm finished. We usually supply our flooring in mixed lengths and widths. Most common widths are 85, 115 or 135mm (ex-100 to 150mm). Please ask if you require different dimensions, wider floor boards of up to 185mm (ex-200mm) can be made to special order.

PLEASE NOTE WE ARE CURRENTLY ONLY ABLE TO DELIVER FLOORING WITHIN SCOTLAND AND NORTHERN ENGLAND. CUSTOMERS FROM FURTHER AFIELD ARE WELCOME TO COLLECT OR ARRANGE TRANSPORT THEMSELVES.

Hardwood flooring

We produce hardwood flooring from British ash, sycamore & beech. The colour of ash flooring ranges from a pale straw colour to dark brown. It has a characteristic look due to the grain structure of the wood. Sycamore flooring is creamy white to light tan in colour and has a natural lustre. Our prices for hardwood flooring start at £28+VAT per m². All our flooring timber is kiln-dried to 10-12% moisture content (equivalent to a centrally heated house) for improved stability.

Softwood flooring

larch-floor2Our solid softwood flooring is made from Scottish larch or Douglas fir. The timber is kiln-dried to 10-12% moisture content (equivalent to a centrally heated house) for improved stability. Douglas fir lends itself well to kiln drying and customers we’ve supplied with Douglas fir have been very happy with the overall look and stability of their flooring. Douglas fir flooring comes at 25mm finished thickness, larch at 21mm. Prices start at £21+VAT for larch and £24+VAT for Douglas fir.

Colour variation, knots

We supply mixed grade flooring so please expect colour variations and a certain amount of knots. Please note that our UK grown Douglas fir has a higher degree of colour variation, distinctive heavy grain markings, knots and aesthetic imperfections compared to imported Douglas fir.

Care for your flooring

Our flooring comes without surface coating but we supply a range of Osmo Natural Wood Care Products that enhance and maintain the beauty of your wooden flooring. We recommend Osmo Polyx®-Oil, the original clear, hard wax oil suitable for most interior woods and especially suited for wood flooring. Osmo Polyx®-Oil is resistant to water and dirt, is very durable and smoothens wood surfaces. In comparison to conventional finishes, the natural vegetable oils and waxes allow for an even colouring and a harmonic, smooth surface result. Note: Natural oils accentuate the natural colour tone and grain of wood (permanent wet look).

Osmo have recently added Polyx®-Oil 3044 Raw to their range of products. It provides the same hardwearing and durable protection as the Polyx®-Oil Original while being almost invisible. Untreated wood in its original form has a light, pale character from its natural ‘raw’ appearance. Osmo Polyx®-Oil 3044 Raw is designed to retain this appearance by using a small amount of white pigments to neutralize the permanent ‘wet-look’ that develops after application of a clear finish.

Osmo Wash and Care is a concentrated cleaner specifically manufactured for the upkeep of oiled and waxed surfaces including polyx and hard wax oils. It is an environmentally friendly, water-based product. As well as cleaning your floor, it increases durability and prevents the floor from becoming marked so easily.
