We have recently taken delivery of good quality oak from Newbyth in East Lothian. These oak logs are in long and straight lengths that are suitable for beams for green oak constrction. Much of these logs will be sawn into 1” boards and kiln dried, suitable for flooring, skirting, garden benches etc. For any projects that require boards thicker then 1” we would recommend laminating or using unseasoned (i.e. green) oak sawn to order. To note, “green” oak will have some shrinkage, movement and checking as a part of its character.
